St. John Francis Regis Chapel, Regis University
22,800 sq ft New Facility, Denver, Colo.
The new chapel at Regis University was constructed as a 200-year building. The chapel has high-end tile, marble, cherry and maple woodwork, Italian stone and exposed glu-lams. The chapel also features an awe-inspiring 50-ft-high gabled ceiling and unobstructed views of Colorado’s Front Range. With antiphonal seating for 600 and a dramatic sense of space, the new chapel anchors the campus and serves as a beacon to welcome students, faculty and visitors. Nestled into the side of a steep hill and situated on the north edge of campus, the compact building site was also a high-traffic area for students during much of the project’s nine-month schedule. With little room for staging, materials were packed tightly and brought to site just in time for construction.
