The Academy of Charter Schools

24,610 sq ft Addition and Renovation, Westminster, Colo.

The Academy of Charter Schools is a K-12 school that opened its Westminster campus in August 2005. The growing charter school rapidly outgrew its existing facility and has a wait list for future enrollment. The addition and renovation project included a new gym, locker rooms, classrooms, weight room, restrooms and a renovated music room. The gym addition was constructed of structural Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) with a steel roof assembly, and the classroom addition was constructed of steel with infill assembly and black veneer.

The renovation portion of the project was completed during the summer months. Once the addition component started in the fall session, Fransen Pittman phased work to ensure that construction did not impact school operations.
