Denver Hospice at Lowry

Sustainable Design Best Practices and Peaceful Landscaping

The Denver Hospice’s previous site, where it had been located for 16 years, was an aging facility with no room to grow. The hospice serves 450 patients daily and more than 9,000 annually.
The new 24-bed site is located in the growing Lowry Redevelopment neighborhood. The new structure includes post-tensioned slab, wood and steel structure with clerestory over the patients' wings hallway.
The facility offers a residential feel with residential windows and doors in all patient rooms. Also, all patient rooms include a private patio and access to a peaceful landscaped area that includes water features and greenery.
The project includes sustainable design best practices such as indoor air quality controls, preference for products made within a 500 mile radius of Denver, and light colored roofing materials.
The new location also offers Denver Hospice room for future expansion to better meet the needs of its patients throughout the metro area.
